Top Medical Research Studies

We investigated the impact of lactoferrin on a 24-year-old woman suffering from a stubborn ear infection that wasn't responding to traditional treatments. After trying various steroids and antibiotics without success, she experienced only a partial recovery with phage therapy.

However, after introducing daily oral doses of lactoferrin for a week, she achieved complete bacterial clearance and full recovery. This improvement was linked to increased immune activity and higher levels of lactoferrin in her body.

Overall, lactoferrin showed promise as an effective treatment option for antibiotic-resistant ear infections.

We examined the effect of apolactoferrin on ear infections by experimenting with chinchillas. After inducing pneumococcal otitis media, we divided the animals into two groups. One group received apolactoferrin while the other was given a placebo.

Our results showed that chinchillas treated with apolactoferrin had significantly reduced bacterial growth and fewer inflammatory cells in their ears compared to those receiving the placebo. While these findings are promising, more research is necessary to truly verify its effectiveness and safety as a treatment for ear infections.

Lactoferrin inhibits bacterial colonization
We examined how lactoferrin in human milk targets harmful bacteria like Haemophilus influenzae, a common cause of ear infections. Our findings revealed that lactoferrin efficiently extracts key proteins that help the bacteria adhere to cells, reducing its ability to cause disease. While it specifically degrades certain factors necessary for colonization, there was no observed effect on other bacterial proteins. This opens up potential future applications of lactoferrin in preventing ear infections, particularly in infants.

Infections ceased entirely

Lactoferrin has completely stopped my sinus infections since I began taking it before my new workout regimen. In the past, working out with weights would lower my resistance, and I would often develop infections within two weeks of strenuous lifting. Since starting lactoferrin, I haven’t experienced this issue. I highly recommend it for anyone prone to infections.

Dramatic improvement noted

Really works for my cat with chronic sinus issues due to FHV infection. Lactoferrin has been the only thing that has made a significant difference in his nasal and eye drainage. While lysine never worked, this did within days. He receives half a capsule mixed in his wet food once daily without any fuss. Using the Jarrow brand for several years now, he is thriving.

Lactoferrin is excellent! After 15 days of use, I've found that it enhances immunity, particularly in those prone to infections. I took it on my doctor's recommendation and can already feel the difference.
